JAMES & THE GIANT PEACH (PUFFIN DESIGN COMPETITION 2011)
Book Design / Illustration

"James & the Giant Peach will be fifty in 2011. Students are invited to [by Puffin] design a new cover for this iconic title, reinventing it for a new generation of readers, encouraging children (and adults) to revisit it and ensuring that it remains an integral part of childhood for the next fifty years."

Having researched and read the book, thoroughly, the part of the story that stuck with me was the cloudmen. The cloudmen live high up in the clouds building rainbows, painting a vivid image for children and adults alike. I didn't want to do the obvious and put a peach on the front cover, therefore it only appears on the back cover,  as if drifting into the scene.
