GENRE VS. TYPE
Typography

I wish I could claim that these are real letterpress prints, but although I have experimented in real traditional letterpress printing in the past, these are digital creations. LetterMpress is a brilliant little application for Mac (and iPad), it may not be as authentic as the real thing but it sure is fun for any fan of typography.

These "prints" are an expression of my love for music and typography. I have tried to match the style of music to a particular typeface that I feel reflects the genre, as well as using the background "paper" colour to further emphasise this. The images could be printed and used as postcards or, as I am currently using one, as computer desktop wallpapers. I would like to develop this idea further. There are plenty more genres out there that I haven't considered.

Alternative

Classical

Country

Folk

Jazz

Metal

Pop

Punk

Rock

Ska

As I mentioned on the homepage, my very favourite genre of music is a combination of folk and punk, thus this is my desktop wallpaper. It might be interesting to merge some more genres.
